Mahindra Reva To Roll Out Electric Cars In 2011
The electric cars from Mahindra Reva is getting hot treatment, with the target for 2011 being fixed as 2500 units. The vehicles are under the operation of Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Private Ltd and the expectation for this fiscal is 1200 units, said the GM of the company. For this, the company"s facility in Bangalore will be equipped to deliver 30000 units a year from the current 1200-1500 monthly units. In addition there has been export units to Norway, Spain, the UK, and France.
The company is designing a 4-seater before 2012, pinning on the hope of scope for Mahindra Reva electric cars due to the increasing fuel cost. Also is to concentrate more on eco-friendly vehicles amidst the polluting fuel vehicles. The Delhi local government is extending incentives for electric vehicles with 29.5% subsidy, while the Rajasthan government has already wiped out the VAT and road tax on electric vehicles.
Mahindra Reva is seeking such incentives from the Kerala government. The Union government is offering Rs 1 lakh or 20% waiver on factory price under the scheme introduced by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy
