Mahindra And Mahindra's NewPremium Truck
The regime of the Indian auto giant Mahindra and Mahindra is sharpening with the expansion mode to its portfolio. The spirit extended since last few years is gaining momentum with the company devising a new premium truck slated for launch in the first half of 2011.
According to the company"s Senior VP for sales and customer care, the new pick-up is to be placed on the top-end category in the commercial vehicle platform by having the capacity of 1+ tonne. This will be the sixth such pick up from Mahindra and Mahindra along with the existing five models - Gio, Champion range, Maxximo, Alfa three wheeler and the top of them Bolero-oriented Maxx 1.2 tonne.
This Mahindra truck comes in the midst of the company"s proposal to rise the prices of its vehicles quoting the rise in the cost of input and materials. However, the price increase will be based on the models and range of products.
Another aspect that the company wants to attribute for the rise is the component constraint faced by the vendors for the past few months resulting with a fall of 8-10%. The main components that faced such hitch were tyres, fuel pumps and castings. Despite all these hiccups, Mahindra and Mahindra secured a rise in its net sale by 32% during the nine months of this FY. The company manufactures all commercial vehicles, buses and trucks in its platform. For the 2010 calendar year the company"s UV sector witnessed a growth of 22-23%.
So the Mahindra truck is to hit the road in mid 2011.
