Automobile Industry Hopes Increased Sale This Festive Season
It is estimated that the growth may rise to 18-20% from the current 13%. SIAM"s President said the given trend shows huge increase potential in the sale of cars. The sale volume of cars in September saw a growth of 30% with the sale of 1,69,082 units, of which Maruti and Hyundai revealed their ever best monthly sale. This took analysts to a worried state of affairs regarding road erection and seeming traffic dilution.
Both the manufacturers and the dealers will be busy pushing volume of units during the festive occasion. SIAM projects that the sale of passenger car may grow to 21% during 2010-11 from the sale of 2.4 million units from the current 1.95 million. The sale of two wheelers will reach the mark of 11 million units and the truck sale might be around 6 lakh units with three wheelers likely constitute 5 lakh units.
The rise in the sale of cars is mainly due to increased purchasing power, easy finance and attractive models from the companies. This increase was made possible even amidst the price rise by the manufacturers. However, the SIAM president said that there are possibilities of slow down in the sale if the rising borrowing costs and components constraints play the fiddle.
