Hyundai Records Good Sales Growth

One of the India's leading car maker, Hyundai Motors Indian Limited (HMIL) have sold more cars in June 2010 as against the same month last year. Considering the entire sales from January to June 2010, Hyundai has recorded 29% growth in the Indian market and the exports grew by 9.2 %. Hyundai has sold 1,75,121 units in this period as against 1,35,751 cars during the Jan-Jun 2009 period.

Hyundai sold 46,254 cars in June 2010 which was 47,266 units in the same period an year ago. In, India, the Korean car giant sold 27,366 cars in June 2010 against 23,015 in June 2009 an 19% sales rise. But, the company's exports witnessed a decrease by 22%, as only 18,888 units were shipped last month while 24,250 cars were exported last year in the same month.

Among the different segments, 42,099 units of small cars (Santro, i10, Getz and i20 ) were sold and in Saloons, 4,137 cars of Accent and Verna were sold. But in the luxury car segment only 18 Sonata Transform cars were sold. Hyundai has launched new facelift Hyundai Verna Transform, which the company hopes, will boost Hyundai's sales in mid segment in the upcoming months of 2010.

According to Mr. Arvind Saxena, Director - Marketing and Sales, HMIL, the company did not export as many cars in June 2010 because of the absence of any fresh incentives from the respective governments there. Hyundai has planned to unveil its premium SUV Santa Fe by the end of this year, which will take on Mitsubishi Outlander and Toyota Fortuner.
