Honda To Check Oil Leaks In Its Cars
Honda communicated this problem and the remedy in its December 3 dated bulletin. The car maker has instructed the dealers to take stock of the situation of sale inventory for rectifying this defect before delivering to the customers. The company is not sure whether all the cars will come under the scanner for oil leakage but said there will be primary inspection to trace the problem. The similar flaw was noticed in the 2006 and 2010 models of Accord, Civic Si, CR-V and Elements.
The cause of the leakage was traced as the excess paint done by the dealers. Honda clarified that the excess paint will be sanded at the company"s risk within the purview of warranty. Honda"s Accord 2011 model came to the market some four months ago this year while CR-V entered into the market some two months ago. Honda"s notice in this regard is applicable to Accord with 2 and 4 doors; and 2 and 4 wheel drive of CR-Vs. The US market has the practice of issuing notices to dealers on safety aspects of vehicles by which recall may come into force. The company is in a pressure to recall, since its sale is declining in the US market, as in the case of Toyota Motor. Honda is not quite happy with the feedback meted out to its CR-Z hybrid in this prospective market.
