Honda May Soon Introduce An Electric Car
This was expected to be an alternative for the combustion engine cars which have the driving force of 500-600 km, whereas the electric versions have the limited and fixed force. Nissan"s Leaf is expected to be launched next month and it will become the world"s first mass volume electric car. This car will have the capacity for drive of 160km with full charge as there will be limited pack of batteries.
The CEO of Honda said that the need for an ordinary driver may not be 500 km always and on the lines of Nissan and Renault, Honda electric cars might go for sale globally, if the performance is good.. He said he preferred the Honda electric car over plug-in hybrid which are packed with large number of batteries for external charging. In his view, the plug-in hybrids are ideal for short distance drives as they are slackened with engine, stack of batteries and a motor.
The CEO will unveil the Honda electric cars, at Los Angeles on November 17th, which will be the first time in Honda's history. This move comes in the wake of California becoming the strictest region on environmental norms and Honda"s response is timely. Simultaneously, Toyota too on the verge of launching its electric version RAV 4 under a JV with Tesla Motors Inc at Los Angeles. Both the companies have entered into a pact for making electric technology and batteries.
