Honda's Move To Counter Alto And Santro

The Japanese auto giant, Honda is entering into the compact car segment at Rs3-3.5 lakhs cost, in India to counter the claims of Maruti Alto and Hyundai Santro. This will be the addition to other major players like GM, Ford, VW and Nissan. Among these companies, VW has better advantage with the technical back up from Maruti under a pact with Suzuki.

The Indian compact car segment has much potential than any other segment and it is cue to be the move by Honda. If this materializes, then it will be Honda" s third product after Jazz and the ensuing small car 2CV scheduled for the festival season. The company" s CEO and President said that the research survey report indicates that the potential for small car is apprehensive globally and particularly in India.

India has been a predominantly small car driven market with Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai dominating the scene. Honda has seen an opportunity here and could possibly bring out a car that can stun its competitors as well as its buyers.
