GM India Has Discount Offers For Festival Season

General Motors India, will offer discounts ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs 70,000 depending upon the model of the cars. This comes at the same time of its announcing the inauguration of its new state-of-the-art facility at Talegaon, on the outskirts of Pune, built at a cost of US$ 230 million this coming November 12. This is a festive offer from GM India for the ensuing Navratri and Diwali festivals.

P Balendran, vice president (corporate affairs) said that GM has not hiked the prices, and has decided to give discounts from Rs 12,000 to Rs 70,000 on different models of its cars soon. It may be noted that most auto majors have hiked prices passing on the cost impact to the consumers owing to high commodity prices, but it seems General Motors is no mood to pass this down to its consumers, especially when it has a target to sell one lakh units this financial year in India as against 69,000 units last year.

The company has also ramped up production by adding second shift at both of its plants. Increasing interest rates can hurt auto sales from the second half of the fiscal year, according to experts.
