GM India will hire 500 for its R&D unit

The company right now has 1600 employees who are engaged in vehicle and engine development, design and R&D activities.
Karl Slym, the president of GM India informed that they will increase the headcount to 2000 people in 2010.
At the end of first quarter of 2010, the company has invested 0 million worth of contracts with its Indian component suppliers.
GM will do R&D and make electric powered cars as it will jointly work with the GM's Global R&D team.
