General Motors Launching New Series

The Indian wing of General Motors is all set to launch a series of 6 new versions next year with the proposed investment of 0 million spread over two years. This is to go along the trend set by other global players like Honda, Toyota, Ford and Volkswagen who eye on the growing demand of the Asian region and particularly the third largest car market in the region.

The move is to penetrate into the world"s top most markets in the coming years and also plans to increase the dealer network to 240 from the current 211. GM has got some good niche in its homeland by pulling the first phase of public offering to the tune of .1 billion.

The existing models in the domestic market from GM are Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Tavera. GM is not the only company to do so, as the French company Renault is launching its 5 models during the period of mid-2011 and mid-2013 of which a small car will come off in mid-2012. The MD of GM said the apex body has recovered from the financial crisis and the Indian wing will rise the price of its cars in January in order to meet the rising input costs.
