GM To Launch LCV By 2011
General Motors, along with SAIC, is planning to launch a Light Commercial Vehicle by the end of 2011 or early 2012. GM is planning to launch two LCV and three passenger vehicles in India within a period of two years.
According to GM's India head Karl Slym, these vehicles would be sold under the Chevrolet Brand.
GM India currently manufactures the Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet U-Va, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet SRV, Chevrolet Optra Magnum, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Tavera and Chevrolet Captiva at its two state of the art facilities in Halol and Talegaon.
General Motors India, a 50:50 joint venture between General Motors and SAIC, will be making a huge investment at its Halol plant in Gujarat to manufacture light commercial vehicles (LCVs) from SAIC's stable.
