Ford Setting Up Its Second Plant In Gujarat

The ever rising Indian car market has pushed Ford Figo forward to think of launching its second facility. Thus, the search is on already and the company has earmarked the regions of Gujarat in this regard. Ford India, is on the verge of launching its new 8 models before 2015 and therefore is suggested sites near Tata Motors in Sanand.

The company"s fast run is ably supported by its launch of Figo and the company intends to retain the tempo as it is. The official negotiations with the Gujarat government officials is going on and something would materialize at any time it is learnt. If it materialized then Ford would be joining GM and Tata Motors to step into the lands of Gujarat. The company said that everything would come to an end in another three months. Ford"s lone factory is in Chennai with 2 lakh annual units capacity. The facility is under threat with labor problems and this is also another reason that Ford wishes to go out of Chennai.

The migration into another zone may bring in some relief, says an official of the company. From Ford"s point of view, Gujarat seems to be safe location for promoting its products and for manufacturing too there are lot of vendors.
