16,000 Figos sold, Ford India at its epic!

By Priya Devi

Ford Figo in India is fueling the company's sales which is growing to sky heights in 2010. Out of the overwhelming response from the public, 21,000 bookings were received by Ford and almost 16,000 Figo cars have been happily delivered to the customers. Obviously, due to the increasing demand of the cool Figo, Ford will start its second shift production in its Chennai Maraimalai Nagar facility from July onwards. This will increase the total production capacity upto 1.4 Lakh units

Ford India president and MD Michael Boneham handed the key to the 1000th customer at MPL Ford dealership outlet and informed that Ford has produced more than 30,200 units from Jan - May 2010, which has crossed the production during the same period last year.

Figo's success is very significant since the B segment of Indian cars is already crowded with models from various manufacturers like Maruti, Hyundai, Fiat, Tata, Volkswagen, Nissan and GM. Inspite of the rising input costs and a stiff competition, Figo's overall package and its pricing is a very crucial factor for its sales.

Atlast Ford has got a firm footing in the auto sector of our country. But Ford has taken a whole 12 years to bring a small car for India. Kudos to Ford India for providing a value for money cool car "Figo"
