Electric Vehicles Under Government Scheme

In a bid to promote electric vehicles, the government has come out with an incentive scheme. The plan for Ministry of Heavy Industries for electric vehicles, will comprise of provisions for infrastructure development along with incentives. The scheme will come into effect once the ministry ratifies the proposal this December.

As per the government scheme, electric vehicle will get waiver of taxes and advantage of free parking. These measures are proposed to woo the customers to prefer electric version vehicles. The government is planning to introduce the pilot scheme in select cities and towns through a network of state government presence.

Among the local governments, Delhi Territory offers such incentives for electric vehicle owners- a reduction of tax by 29.5% from the net price of the vehicle.
