Electric Version Of GM India Slated For Next Year

The Indian wing of General Motors indicated that the electric version of its vehicles will be on roads next year. The President and MD of the company revealed that the proposed car would be eco-friendly compact version able to operate on battery power. To withstand the fast moving Chevrolet brands in the country, the company is on the verge of expanding its network to reach the desired mass. This is the seventh consecutive year of the presence for Chevrolet ranges in India. Further, GM is tying with the Chinese SAC for launching three value-package cars in India he added. GM is not making any rest to leave the competitors sneak into its regions as it has plans to bring out power train facility at Talegaon. If it materialized, then it would be GM"s first flexi-engine plant for its global operations.

The facility would feed the petrol and diesel engines since the LNG facility has already been installed at its Halol factory. This facility will take care of gas supply for its manufacturing plant of cars. As an expansion spree, in another two years the Rajasthan units would be upgraded to deliver 4 lakh units from the existing 22500 units. The company"s VP for Sales and Marketing said that already the company has invested Rs 4,500 crore in India for stabilizing its market presence. GM witnessed a growth of 79 percent during the last six months amidst the limited growth of 36 percent in the overall industry, where it possesses just 4 percent.
