GM-SAIC car to challenge Tata Nano

GM will develop a new ULC car with SAIC, one of the largest Chinese car maker that might take on the Tata Nano. As per the GM Internation Operations president, Timothy E Lee, the US carmaker is trying its hands on every car segment.

Interestingly, SAIC has bought 50% stakes of GM India and there is a 3 way JV in China among the SAIC, GM and Wuling. They will surely bring in the Wuling Rongguang and Sunshine minivans by 2011 in Indian soil.

GM India has got a major break throught with its Spark small car and the proposed low cost car will only create more competition among small car manufacturers.
