BMW Hybrid Super Car To Launch In 2013
The company hinted that the cost may be on the lines of RollsRoyce ranges. The CEO of the company disclosed that the BMW hybrid super car is mooted to fulfill the need for enviro care and the electric-powered Megacity auto. He expressed the projection that the sale volume of the cars from BMW would increase to 2 million in another decade from the current 1.4 million units. The peculiarity BMW hybrid super car, the upward open door, has 3-cylinder diesel engine and twin electric motors. Built at 1.24 metres height it is a 4-seater and the finishing version will eliminate the transparency in doors to serve the speakers and arm rests. The acceleration will be akin to BMW"s own M6 supercar while maintaining the emission rate of CO2 to 30%/km. however, in the US, BMW M6 costs 2350 and the mission is to increase the sale volume, by wrenching a marginal share.
The CEO said that the target is to float the presence initially and to gather momentum in the share. The investment will see 530 million euro for developing this Megacity car, for erecting a new carbon-fiber facility in addition to 0 million euro for the expansion activities at the company"s Leipzig factory. BMW is thinking of launching this Megacity electric car under a new brand vision at the time of formal launch. The company claims that the carbon-fiber is employed to enhance the safety aspects, much found in Formula 1 race cars.
