Benz: Made In India

Automobile enthusiasts rejoiced after the inauguration of Mercedes Benz's manufacturing plant at Chakan, near Pune. The plant was built in a little over a year, which is very impressive even from Mercedes standards. The green field project was taken up with the help of the Bangalore base of the famed car makers.

Mercedes maintains that it will manufacture 5000 cars and 1200 commercial vehicles initially. The state of the art technologies inside the plant ensure that the exceptional quality of Benz's world over is maintained here too. The plant is an important step in the car maker's long term plans in India.
