Mahindra Launches Automatic Scorpio With 6-Seed Gear-Box
Speaking at the national launch, Arun Malhotra, Vice President, Sales and customer Care, said the in-built intelligent driving modes provide those who drive the new Scorpio, a greater vehicle control in various conditions, especially in cities.
Scorpio was the first Indian brand and the first 'SUV' in its class to offer fully automatic transmission.
The new-edition is equipped with in-built intelligent driving modes for an effortless drive and provides a wide array of smart features, giving the Scorpio a greater competitive edge in its segment. It provides greater vehicle-control in a variety of conditions like stop-and-go traffic, slippery roads to steep inclines, he said.
The new model was built on superior mHawk engine which ensures smoother drive and better fuel efficiency.
The company had sold 41,000 Scorpios last year. 'Scorpio AT will give us a major boost to step up our sales,' Mr Malhotra said.
Mr Ashish Malik, M and M General Manager (Marketing), said the Scorpio AT would be available in VLS and VLX variants and was priced from Rs 10.38 lakh onwards. The AT model would cost between Rs 85,000 to Rs 90,000 more than the existing manual model.
In the first months till Ausust in the current fiscal, the company sold 95,000 vehicles in all its segments of which Scorpio accounted for Rs 15,300, he said.
'We have started the production of Scorpio AT at our Nashik plant last week. There is no target fixed, as this is a niche product. The production depends on demand,' the official added.
