Incredible but true. You get a car free if you bought one in the US in the wake of the Wall Street meltdown which laid its rough hands on car dealerships. The outcome is that the car dealers in the Apple City have emerged with enormous discounts and attractive offers as "Buy one get one free!".

"The first thing people think when they come in is 'It's a fake ad. It's a normal car dealer ad. It's a gimmick.' But it's not," said Ali Ahmed, a Dodge dealer in Miami who offered such a deal.

"We've heard about the buy-one-get-one-free ads in Florida, Ohio and Texas," the NYDN quoted Richard Arca, a senior analyst at Edmunds.com, as saying.

This striking deal is offered across the country as a desperate action of the dealerships due to the plummeting sales of the auto industry. The auto industry is sailing amongst rough weathers due to the economic meltdown with the urgent need to dispose the cars to mitigate the losses. GM, Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota and Nissan, victims of the recession saw the a sales drop of 30 percent in 2008.

"There is nothing they can do but sell them. They need to get these cars off the lot. They need to mitigate their losses," said Arca.
