The Package

Before we got to what is inside the box, we took some time to look at the packaging. In terms of design, the box is no different from what you would normally get with other helmets. However, the graphics on the box is what sets it apart.

On the front of the box is the Royal Enfield logo along with the words, ‘120 Years Of Pure Motorcycling.' On another side is a short blurb about Royal Enfield's 12-decade-long journey. The colours that have been used on the black-coloured box too are very attractive.

The Unboxing & the Postcard

The unboxing process was fairly simple and straightforward. The top of the box opens up, revealing what's inside it. Immediately you notice the helmet wrapped in a white satin sling bag. There's yet another element that draws your attention and that is an envelope.

Inside the envelope is a postcard and this reveals the design scheme of the limited edition helmet. This one says ‘Go Interceptor,' thereby revealing that this is a tribute to the Royal Enfield Interceptor 750 that first debuted in 1962. The postcard features a very retro image of the legendary Interceptor 750 and on the back of it is a small descriptive blurb of the same.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 750

It is one of those Royal Enfield motorcycles that commands a high level of respect even sixty years after it was first launched. It went into production way back in 1962 and immediately, it became the highest-capacity motorcycle in England. With a top speed of nearly 200km/h, it was one of the fastest motorcycles in the world back in 1962.

It was powered by a 736cc, parallel-twin engine and it is said to be one of the smoothest parallel-twin engines ever made. Even today, it is one of the most-revered British motorcycles and quite simply a Royal Enfield legend.

The Go Interceptor Limited Edition Royal Enfield Helmet

The Go Interceptor helmet is one of the twelve limited-edition helmets launched by Royal Enfield as part of the 120-year celebrations. It is striking to behold thanks to the hand-painted scheme. On one side, it looks a little too plain as only the bright-red paint is seen.

On the other side though, things change drastically. The left-hand side of the helmet features a glorious image of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 750 of yore. The motorcycle appears to be at a high speed and all the little details of the legendary motorcycle are visible.

A hand-painted pinstripe separates the two contrasting sides of the helmet. At the front, above the visor is a retro-styled Royal Enfield logo. The helmet features a leather beading with white stitching that stands out in contrast to the tan leather.

At the rear of the helmet is a little strap that makes it look more stylish. It can be used to hand the helmet, however, given the exclusivity of these helmets, we're not too sure buyers would want to hang it using those straps. The premium leather is also found on the outline of the padding found inside the helmet.

The foam on this padding is soft and is covered with Polygiene which is a sweat-resistant material. The upper part of the padding has the Royal Enfield logo embossed on it and this is flanked by some mesh bits to aid in airflow.

The helmet is based on the Axor Retro Jet model and therefore looks very similar in terms of design. In fact, the manufacturing of the limited-edition helmets is handled by Vega Auto. A badge on the backside of the ratchet strap says, ‘Manufactured by Vega, marketed by Royal Enfield.'

On the inside of the helmet is yet another important piece of information. A label on this particular read ‘022/120.' This signifies that it is the 22nd unit of the 120-unit limited production run.

Limited Edition 120-Year Celebration Helmets From Royal Enfield

To commemorate 12 decades of its existence, Royal Enfield launched 12 unique helmet designs. The Go Interceptor is only one of them. Just like this helmet is a tribute to the Interceptor 750, the 11 other helmets too are a homage to 11 other legendary Royal Enfield motorcycles.

Some of the other motorcycles that have had the honour are the Classic, Bullet, Meteor, Flying Flea, and of course, the original Royal Enfield which is the first motorcycle to be displayed at the Stanley Cycle Show in London, way back in 1901.

Only 120 units of each of these 12 helmet designs were produced, and all of them have already been sold. If you intend to buy one, you can still register on Royal Enfield's website to be notified when the next sale goes online. At Rs 6,950, the helmets aren't exactly cheap, but then anything that's limited-edition is bound to be more expensive.

Thoughts On Royal Enfield's 120-Year Celebration Limited Edition Helmets

The Go Interceptor edition that we received certainly stole our hearts in terms of the design and left us longing for a ride on the original Interceptor 750. While the half-faced helmet might not be as safe as a full-faced unit, it certainly is very stylish.

However, owing to the impeccable and attractive paint and graphics, we would suggest these helmets be used as showpieces or conversation starters. Given that they are limited edition units, they are bound to be brilliant conversation starters.
