TVS Eurogrip Roadhound Tyre Review - Track Fun Specialist On A Budget

It's been over 40 years since TVS Tyres started making road-hugging rubber for India's automobiles. Since then, their tyres have adorned many a bike and scooter traversing our roads.

In 2019, the firm rebranded itself as TVS Eurogrip, aiming to become a global leader in the two-wheeler tyre market. The results of the rebrand to TVS Eurogrip and the changes bought are seen on our roads today.

The latest of these changes is the all-new TVS Eurogrip Roadhound tyre for those looking to get a bit extra out of their riding experience on the road and the track.

So when TVS Eurogrip invited us to see how the new Roadhound tyres get manufactured and then test them out at Coimbatore's Kari Motor Speedway, we were more than happy to head out for the ride.

TVS Eurogrip Roadhound Specs, Prices & Riding Impressions

The Roadhound is a quad-compound radial tyre designed for cornering grip, comfort and longevity. TVS Eurogrip claims that the Roadhound offers good grip even in wet conditions, with the grooves on the contact patch evacuating water quickly, reducing the chance of aquaplaning.

One compound on the Roadhound provides stability and longevity, while two more help make up the rounded and extended shoulder profile, offering more stiffness and cornering grip. The base layer compound helps enhance comfort on the go.

The Roadhound comes in a single size for the front tyres and two options for the rear. The front tyre is a 120/70 unit (Rs 12,999), while the rear tyre comes in two sizes - 160/60 (Rs 14,999) and 180/55 (Rs 16,999).

The Roadhound performance tyre production facility is TVS Eurogrip's state-of-the-art factory in Madurai. We got to see the entire production process, from the initial melting of the rubber to the final treaded tyre.

The next day, we found ourselves at Coimbatore's Kari Motor Speedway with an array of bikes fitted with the new Roadhound tyres. The bikes on offer included Benelli's Leoncino and TRK 502, Kawasaki's Ninja 650 and Z650, Honda CBR 650F and the Harley-Davidson Streetrod.

No matter the motorcycle we were riding, the Roadhounds showcased uniform performance. The tyres got up to temperature quickly and remained in the optimal zone throughout our time on the track with each bike. The Roadhounds provided excellent grip right from the start, with the super-sticky compound mix allowing you to corner confidently, blitz the straights and stamp on the brakes without worry.

Corners were a breeze, with the Roadhounds allowing the bike to stay planted without any twitching or notion of slippage. Transitioning between corners was also easy, with the extended shoulders of the tyres providing ample grip allowing for a smooth switch from side to side.

Under braking, the Roadhound-fitted motorcycles remained on the straight and narrow, not wanting to step out even a little bit. Even while trail braking, the Roadhound took the load without complaint

The Roadhound also allowed us to be aggressive with the throttle, even while leaning. The tyres remained plastered to the tarmac, not spinning at all, even when we whacked open the throttle while coming out of slow-speed corners.

On the straights, the Roadhounds provided ample grip to keep us steady on our paths as we got to speeds on the track that would see the cops want to talk to us if we did them on the streets.

Final Thoughts About The TVS Eurogrip Roadhound Tyres: Track Fun Specialist

The Roadhound tyres from TVS Eurogrip see the firm transition to performance tyres. From our limited time at the Kari Motor Speedway with the new Roadhounds on multiple motorcycles, we found they worked rather brilliantly on the track.

The Roadhounds got up to temperature quickly and provided ample grip to let you enjoy the twists and turns of the racetrack and blitz the straights. However, we will need more time with the tyres on regular roads to comment on the longevity and street manners (especially comfort) of the new Roadhound from TVS Eurogrip.
