KTM Duke 250 vs. Yamaha FZ25: New Kids On The Block Go To War?

KTM termed the launch of the Duke 250 as a wild card entry to the event. The 250cc bike segment seems to be the next big trend in the motorcycle segment in India.
While the Dukes are known for their performance and lightweight yet robust chassis, the Yamaha FZ is a well-established brand in the country. Both the bikes are naked and therefore they are direct rivals. So, how does the Yamaha FZ25 compare to the KTM Duke 250?

Both the FZ25 and Duke 250 have a similar cubic capacity; however, the performance of the Duke 250 edges out the FZ25 with 31bhp from the 248cc single-cylinder unit, while the FZ25 churns out a modest 20bhp from the 248cc engine. The KTM Duke 250 is lighter by 10kg compared to the FZ25, this makes the Duke 250 is much quicker than the FZ25.
Does the Yamaha FZ25 perform well at the mid-range? Well, the FZ25 produces 20Nm of torque while the Duke 250 churns out 24Nm of torque. Here to the Duke 250 scores much better than the FZ25.
