Bajaj Chetak C2501 Review: The Everyday Urban Electric Scooter
The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter range has expanded with the introduction of the Chetak C2501. The new Bajaj Chetak C2501 aims to address the growing mid-speed electric scooter segment in India and offers a blend of classic design and practical features tailored for urban use at a more affordable pricepoint.
The mid-speed electric scooter segment has emerged to counteract range anxiety often associated with electric scooters. By limiting top speeds, manufacturers can ensure more consistent range performance. The Bajaj Chetak C2501 joins this segment, which typically sees maximum speeds between 55 km/h and 60 km/h.

While some consumers might have anticipated an entirely new generation of the Chetak, the C2501 is an extension of the existing family. It shares some features with older Chetak models while introducing distinct elements. We recently rode the Bajaj Chetak C2501 in Pune and here’s how it performs on the road.
Bajaj Chetak C2501 Review – Design & Features
The Chetak C2501 retains the classic Chetak aesthetic. From most angles, it resembles its predecessors. The design incorporates a halo LED Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) around a round headlamp, a familiar feature from the 35 Series and 30 Series models.

Design elements on the front section maintain continuity with earlier Chetak models, though with slight modifications. The iconic Chetak logo is prominently displayed. The scooter features an all-metal body construction, contributing to its robust build quality and durability.
At the front, the Chetak C2501 is equipped with a 180 mm disc brake and telescopic suspension offering 95 mm of travel. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels. The side profile of the scooter is minimal and clean, featuring integrated foot pegs and street art-inspired graphics.

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 offers a comfortable riding experience. It features wide seats and ample legroom, making it suitable for riders of varying heights. A flat handlebar design helps enhance ride comfort and control, particularly in city traffic.
Storage is practical, with two small storage spaces on the front apron. The under-seat storage provides a generous 25-litre capacity. This space can accommodate a standard full-face helmet, and is more than adequate for your daily shopping needs.

Braking performance is bolstered by disc brakes for effective stopping power. The rear section features twin shock absorbers and a hub-mounted motor. The tail lamp design incorporates "ice cube" optics, ensuring good visibility from the rear.
The Chetak C25 is available with a Tech Pack, which unlocks additional functionalities for an extra ₹3,000. This includes a Sport riding mode, allowing faster acceleration to its top speed. Without the Tech Pack, the scooter reaches its top speed more gradually.

The Tec Pack also adds several premium features for convenience and safety. These include Hill Hold Assist, which prevents roll-back on inclines, and a Guide Me Home function for improved visibility after parking. Also added is music control for those who love to listen to thier tunes on the go.
Bajaj Chetak C2501 Review – Specifications & Dimensions – Key Performance Data
The Bajaj Chetak C2501 weighs 107 kg, making it a lightweight and agile electric scooter for urban commuting. Its compact size further contributes to its manoeuvrability through congested city streets. This design focus ensures ease of handling.

Powering the Chetak C2501 is a 2.25 kWh battery, which is floor-mounted for better weight distribution. The company claims a range of 113 km on a single charge. In real-world conditions, users can expect approximately 90 to 95 km of range.
The scooter’s top speed is electronically limited to 55 km/h, aligning it with the mid-speed electric scooter segment. Charging times are efficient, with the battery reaching 0–80% charge in just 2 hours and 25 minutes.

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 is available in multiple colour options. It comes with a standard warranty of three years or 50,000 km, whichever comes first. This warranty can be extended to five years by paying an additional ₹6,000.
Bajaj Chetak C2501 Review – Riding Impressions – Urban Agility

Riding the Chetak C2501 in an urban environment highlights its strengths. Its lightweight construction and compact dimensions allow for easy navigation through traffic. The flat handlebar and comfortable seating position contribute to an ergonomic riding posture.
The scooter’s performance within city limits feels similar to other electric scooters with slightly more power. However, its limited top speed of 55 km/h means it is not designed for high-speed highway travel. Riders seeking faster acceleration might find this a limitation.

The quick charging capability is a significant advantage. This feature makes it ideal for daily commuters, college students, or delivery personnel who can charge their scooters during meal breaks. The fast charge minimises downtime and enhances the practicality of the Chetak C2501.
The inclusion of features like Hill Hold Assist and a panic lamp further improves the riding experience. The panic lamp, which blinks the tail light during sudden braking, alerts following vehicles. These features add to rider confidence and safety.

Bajaj Chetak C2501 Review – Verdict & Final Thoughts – The Electric City Commuter
The Bajaj Chetak C2501 performs effectively as a city-oriented electric scooter, prioritising agility, comfort, and practical range for daily commutes. Its build quality, including the all-metal body, and the convenience of quick charging stand out as key advantages.
The Bajaj Chetak C2501 is a suitable choice for those seeking a reliable, mid-speed electric vehicle for urban use, especially if fast charging and trusted build quality are priorities. However, individuals requiring higher top speeds or frequent long-distance travel should consider other options.
