2026 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 Review: More Kit But Let Down By A Lazy Throttle

The Pulsar NS200 has been Bajaj's best-known 200cc naked for years, and the new 2026 version of the bike is the latest Pulsar to get the firm's makeover as part of the celebrations of 25 years of the Pulsar brand.

The updates on the 2026 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 adds ride-by-wire, a quickshifter and a TFT console, while the price goes up to Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom). We rode the new bike in Pune to see whether the new hardware makes the NS200 a better motorcycle to live with.

2026 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 Review - What's New?

The silhouette of the 2026 Pulsar NS200 is the same as before, and it comes in three colours: Ebony Black/Racing Red, Pearl Metallic White and the new Nardo Grey. The perimeter frame, box-section swingarm and preload-adjustable monoshock have been carried over unchanged. The USD fork has grown from 33mm to 37mm, and there's a radial tyre at the rear.

The 2026 Pulsar NS200's 199.5cc, four-valve, liquid-cooled single has been retained. It now makes 25bhp, about 1bhp more than before, and 18.7Nm of torque which is sent to the rear through a six-speed gearbox. What's new is an electronic throttle body, which brings ride modes and traction control. Bajaj has also added a bi-directional quickshifter.

The new 5-inch TFT console (which is now becoming standard across the Pulsar range) replaces the old semi-digital unit and mirrors Google Maps. Bajaj has also added adjustable levers, a USB Type-C port, a hazard switch and Panic Brake Alert, which flashes the hazard lights under hard braking.

2026 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 Review - Riding Impressions

The engine is peppy and responsive. Pickup from low speeds is good, and the bike builds speed progressively. The mid-range is decent, so it's fun both in the city and on the highway. There are minor vibrations at higher revs when you push it hard, but they're nothing to worry about.

The response of the electronic throttle is the first thing we'd like to change. There's a noticeable delay, and on a bike that can be lively it takes some of the edge off. We'd have preferred a more immediate connection to the engine. The six-speed gearbox felt slightly notchy when changing gears, and the clutch is on the heavy side. A lighter clutch would be a big help in city traffic.

The riding position is comfortable with a slightly sporty feel, and the handlebar is well placed. The seat cushioning could be better, particularly on longer rides. Handling is good overall, and the bike is stable through corners. The suspension setup is well balanced and strikes a good compromise between comfort and handling. The front brake has good initial bite and the rear performs well, so braking is decent overall.

There are three ride modes, Road, Rain and Sport, but the difference between them isn't significant. Even in Sport, acceleration feels much the same. The TFT is bright and easy to read. Google Maps mirroring works well and is a useful addition, though the initial setup is slightly complicated.

2026 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 Review - Verdict

2026 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 Review

The 2026 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is a better-equipped bike than the one it replaces. The engine is lively, the chassis is stable and well balanced, and the TFT with Google Maps is easy to read and use. The new 37mm fork and the radial rear tyre complete the package.

The throttle delay is the main letdown, and the notchy gearbox and heavy clutch don't help in traffic. The ride modes also barely change the character of the bike, which makes the electronic throttle feel less worthwhile than it should.

At Rs 1.60 lakh, it costs a little more than the Apache RTR 200 4V and Rs 11,000 more than the model it replaces. If you want a fast and stable 200cc naked with plenty of tech, the NS200 remains a good choice, but we would recommend you get a test ride before you buy.
