We recently rode the updated 2025 Ather 450X on the streets of the garden city, Bangalore, and here are our thoughts about how this sporty electric scooter rides as we try to see if it is any easier to live with...

2025 Ather 450X Review - What's Changed?
The Ather 450 lineup has received quite a few updates for 2025. As far as visual changes go, there are two new colour options - Hyper Sand and Stealth Blue - and now comes shod with MRF's Zapper N e-tred tyres and a 24% increase in True Range.
The Apex variant now comes bundled with the Halo helmet as standard while the 450X now gets the Magic Twist feature that first arrived on the Apex. Both Apex and 450X scooters now come with multi-mode traction control as standard which allows for three traction intervention modes - Rain, Road and Rally - which can be changed on the fly.

The 450X and Apex also feature the latest AtherStack6 software setup which enables features like Ping My Scooter, WhatsApp on Dashboard, Live Location Sharing and various Alexa Skills.
2025 Ather 450X Review - Specs & Range

Ather claims that the entire 450 lineup has seen an increase in Tru Range (Ather speak for real-world range)of around 24 per cent. For the base 450X with the 2.9kWh battery pack, the range has increased from 60km (in Warp) to 70km while the range in Sport has risen to 80km (up from 70km). The range in Ride mode has gone up from 75km to 90km. TruRange in Eco and Smart Eco has risen to 105km from the previous 85km and 90km figures.
The 450X with the 3.7kWh now has a maximum Tru range of 130km in Smart Eco and Eco modes, up from 110km and 105km respectively. In Ride mode, the range has risen by 20km to 110km while the range in Sport mode has gone by 15km to 100km. Finally, in Warp mode, the range has risen by 10km to 85km.

The performance figures remain the same on paper, with the 450X accelerating from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 90 km/h. This is all thanks to its unchanged power output of 8.58 bhp and 26 Nm of torque.

2025 Ather 450X Review - How Does it Ride?
Riding the new 2025 Ather 450X through the streets of Bangalore felt instantly familiar. The scooter takes off with the same quickness as before and, if you're an average-sized Indian rider, offers a comfortable and fun ride.

The new MRF Zapper N e-tred tyres provide enough grip to enjoy the brisk nature of this pointy little electric scooter in the city. The three traction modes allow you to enjoy the 450X to the fullest but intervene just enough to keep you out of trouble, especially when the roads are damp or slushy.
The suspension of the Ather 450X is quite nicely set up and the scooter is as nimble and pointy as ever. The 450X switches between lanes and changes directions with ease. Bumps and ruts are dealt without any problems at all, even when you have a pillion riding with you. The disc brakes bring you to a stop quickly and while the rear brake is sharp, the front did feel a bit lean at times.

The new Magic Twist feature sees Ather bring regenerative braking to the 450X, and it works as advertised. Once you get used to riding with the Magic Twist feature switched on, venturing through slow-moving city traffic using just the throttle, feels, magical, as the motor slows you down quite nicely.
