Toyota has revealed the Fine-Comfort Ride fuel cell vehicle at the 2017 Toyota Motor Show. The Fine-Comfort Ride concepts is a showcase for Toyota's next-generation hydrogen fuel cell technology.

The Hydrogen-fuel cell powered Toyota Fine-Comfort Ride concept is powered by four electric motors - one on each wheel, good for a combined 400bhp. The Fine-Comfort Ride concept has a range of 965.6km (600 miles) and unlike battery-powered EVs can easily refuel itself by filling up at a hydrogen fuel station in a matter of minutes.

The Toyota Fine Comfort Ride is underpinned by a flexible architecture designed for electric vehicles and thanks to the in-bound motors, the wheels are placed at the corners of the car. The new Toyota Fine-Comfort Ride concept is 4,830mm long, 1,950mm wide, 1,650mm tall and has a 3,450mm long wheelbase.

The Fine Comfort Ride features a futuristic design with the front end featuring sharp angular LED headlamps and heavily sculpted front bumper which also integrates the front wheel arches. While the front doors open normally, the rear units slide back and there is no B-pillar present. The rear end is sculpted as well with the roof featuring raised sections that look similar to ears of a cat.

The interior features six seats, four individual seats and a bench at the rear, where the concept is narrower. The front seats can swivel 180 degrees while the second row of seats features multiple reclining options.

The cabin features multiple displays including with the side windows. The front windscreen also plays host to what looks to be a heads-up display.

DriveSpark Thinks!
The Toyota Fine-Comfort Ride is a showcase for Toyota's next-gen Fuel Cell technology and its quirky design could provide a respite in the world of discreet luxury limos.
Hydrogen fuel cells can provide an alternative to battery-powered EVs which take a long time to recharge and the costs of extracting and storing hydrogen mean that the automotive world has mostly ignored fuel cells in favour of cheaper battery tech, which is a shame.
