Mercedes Reveals The Vision Tokyo Concept At Tokyo Motor Show
Mercedes-Benz showcases an advanced five-seater concept car—the Vision Tokyo. This concept car's design speaks volumes of the progressive and futuristic design idiom. The Vision Tokyo is capable of driving autonomously, and will be on display to an international audience at the Tokyo Motor Show*.
The Tokyo Vision Concept car is the brainchild of Mercedes-Benz designers working at the global network of Advanced Design Studios. Some of the advanced technologies are Deep Machine Learning, Apps, maps and displays presented as three-dimensional holograms within the interior space, and an intelligent Predictive Engine, which makes the Tokyo Vision Concept more familiar with its occupants, their likes and preferences.

The spaciousness of the Vision Tokyo is remarkable and proportions are emphasised by side windows screen-printed in the colour of the vehicle and monochrome Alubeam paintwork.
Standout features are the 26-inch wheels, side skirts, surfaces and lines illuminated in blue, and a 360-degree camera on the vehicle roof's fin.
The Vision Tokyo features a continuous stretch of glass panelling, instead of a conventional windscreen. The front headlamps are set at an angle and the front of the vehicle can be used to display a series of different lighting functions.
The dimensions of the Vision Tokyo are some what on the lines of a mid-series vehicle (length/width/height: 4803/2100/1600 mm). This vehicle can accomadate up to five passengers and the interior is accessed via the upward-swinging door on the left-hand side. The seating arrangement is however unconventional, and passengers are seated on a large, oval-shaped couch, which provides a lounge-style arrangement and allows the occupants to enjoy the benefits of autonomous driving.
The Vision Tokyo can be manually controlled as well. Should there be a requirement, a seat from the centre of the couch is released in the direction of travel, and, the steering wheel is moved from standby to driving mode.
DriveSpark Thinks! When it comes to advanced designed activities, Mercedes-Benz has taken it to a whole new level!
*The Tokyo Motor Show opens to the public from 30 October to 8 November.
