Fourth-Generation Toyota Prius Unveiled At Tokyo Motor Show
The 2016 Toyota Prius makes its debut at the ongoing Tokyo Motor Show. New Prius will go sale by 2015-end, however, initially it will be made available only in the Japanese markets. This is the fourth generation model of the Prius hybrid vehicle.
The new Toyota Prius looks sharper and aggressive than its predecessor. The hybrid vehicle gets more angular styling that provides the Prius an illusion of it being on motion, even while standing still.
Engineers have provided the 2016 Prius with Blind Spot Monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross traffic alert. Toyota will also be offering Toyota Safety Sense as an active safety package, it offers a monocular camera with millimeter-wave radar that detects pedestrians and vehicles.
The 2016 Toyota Hybrid is smaller and lighter compared to its predecessor. Engineers have focussed on making the hybrid components more compact. This has helped them in improving thermal efficiency by 40 percent and also improved the fuel economy by almost 18 percent.
Vehicle stability has improved on the 2016 Toyota Prius owing to the centre of gravity being lowered. The powertrain is strategically placed to improve stability. The 2016 Toyota Prius roof is lowered by 20m.
Toyota is currently offering several of its models in India with an optional hybrid powertrain. They offer Camry hybrid and the Prius hybrid as well. The Toyota Prius is currently priced between Rs, 38.10 to Rs. 39.80 ex-showroom (Delhi). India too could get the fourth-generation Toyota Prius by 2016-end.
