2017 New York Auto Show: Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 And GLC 63 Coupe revealed. Both SUVs use the same 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine.
Mercedes-AMG has revealed the GLC 63 and the GLC 63 Coupe at the 2017 New York Auto Show. The new duo of SUVs from Mercedes will rival the Porsche Macan when sales start in June.
Powering the new Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 and GLC 63 Coupe is AMG's 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine that produces 469bhp and 650Nm of torque in the GLC 63 and GLC 63 Coupe.
The S variants of both the SUVs get and uprated version of the same engine which produces 503bhp and 700Nm of torque.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic gearbox and Merc's 4Matic four-wheel drive system which is biased towards the rear.
Both SUVs also feature four different driving modes in the base trim: Comfort, Eco, Sport and Sport Plus. The S variants of the GLC 63 and the GLC 63 Coupe get a fifth driving mode: Race. In Eco mode, both performance SUVs have a coasting function that activates on trailing throttle at speeds between 60km/h and 160km/h in Eco mode.
The standard Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 and GLC 63 Coupe sit on 19-inch alloy wheels that are shod with 235/55 front and 255/50 rear tyres. The more powerful S variants sit on 20-inch alloys shod with 265/45 and 295/40 profile tyres. Also available as an option are 21-inch alloy wheels.
Aesthetically, the AMG-tuned GLC twins sport feature the new Panamericana grille seen on the AMG GT R, along with aggressive front and rear bumpers, side skirts and a new spoiler at the rear.
At launch, an Edition 1 model of both the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 and GLC 63 Coupe will be available. The Editon 1 adds the night package with black details on the car's exterior, matte black 21-inch alloy wheels and a spoiler. The interiors feature Nappa leather, a performance steering wheel and carbon fibre.
