2017 New York Auto Show: Aggressive Lexus LS 500 F Sport Revealed
Lexus LS F Sport revealed at the 2017 New York Auto Show with more aggressive styling, larger alloys and the latest chassis control tech.
2017 New York Auto Show: Lexus LS 500 F Sport revealed. The new Lexus LS 500 F Sport features both mechanical and cosmetic upgrades compared to the regular LS 500.
Aesthetically, the Lexus LS 500 F Sport features two large air intakes that flank the signature gaping spindle grille found on the regular car. Other changes include 20-inch alloy wheels shod with 245/45 front and 245/40 rear tyres.
The LS 500 F Sport also features two new colours - shades of red and blue - which are exclusive to the model.
On the inside, the new LS 500 F Sport gets bolstered seats clad in perforated leather and Ultrasuede. Ultrasuede has also been used for the headliner. Other changes include a F Sport steering wheel behind which sits an instrument cluster derived from the LFA supercar. The pedals and footrest are made from aluminium.
Mechanically, the Lexus LS 500 F Sport gets the most advanced setup of the company's chassis control technology which controls the car's ride and helps it corner better by tweaking the brake response, steering and suspension. The chassis control tech allows for three driving modes: Normal, Sport S and Sport S+.
Other changes include larger brakes with six-piston callipers up front and four-piston units at the rear, a revised air-ride suspension tuned for a sporty ride. Other changes include the addition Lexus' Dynamic Handling tech which controls the way the car behaves at different speeds by tweaking the ABS, traction control, ESC along with the steering.
Under the swooping bonnet, the Lexus LS 500 F Sport is unchanged and gets either the 3.5-litre twin turbo V6 producing 415bhp and 600Nm of torque or the downgraded version of the engine mated to an electric motor (from the LS 500h) that combine together to crank out 295bhp and 354Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
The hybrid Lexus LS 500 F Sport sprints to 100km/h from standstill in 5.4 seconds while the more powerful variant cuts that time down to just 4.5 seconds.
