2017 New York Auto Show: Jaguar F-Type Gets Tiny New Engine — Has the Big Cat Been Declawed?
2017 New York Auto Show: Jaguar F-Type lineup expanded with brand new engine. New F-Type engine option is from Jaguar new Ingenium lineup of engines.
2017 New York Auto Show: Jaguar F-Type revealed with a new engine. The new F-Type is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and deliveries will start in the UK in the summer. The four-cylinder Jaguar F-Type is priced at £49,900 (Rs 40.31 lakh).
The new 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is the most powerful four-cylinder unit that Jaguar has ever offered. The turbocharged engine produces 296bhp and 400Nm of torque which kicks in at just 1,500rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels.
The four-cylinder F-Type will sprint from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds and will continue accelerating till it tops out at 250km/h. Jaguar has quoted the same sprint time and top speed for both coupe and convertible variants. The top speed of the new four-cylinder variant is 11km/h lower than that of the base V6 F-Type variant.
The new four-cylinder Jaguar F-Type is 16 percent more fuel efficient than the V6 F-Type which is mostly thanks to the 52-kilogramme drop in kerb weight. The coupe weighs in at 1,525 kilos with the convertible slightly heavier at 1,545-kilogrammes.
The new Jaguar F-Type variant also gets various driver assist features including autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign assist, lane keep assist and Jaguar's adaptive speed limiter system.
