2016 EICMA Motorcycle Show: Ducati Desert Sled & Cafe Racer Revealed
The Desert Sled and Cafe Racer by Ducati have been developed using the Scrambler as a base. Both models will be powered by a common engine, however, their design and purpose are poles apart.
Ducati has been teasing two new scramblers for the international market through their social media platforms. Now, the Italian-based manufacturer has revealed both models at the 2016 EICMA Motor Show. The Ducati Desert Sled and Ducati Cafe Racer models have been unveiled.
Both Ducati Scrambler models are powered by a common engine. The Desert Sled and Cafe Racer will feature an 803cc L-Twin, air-cooled engine. This engine produces 73.76bhp, along with 68Nm of peak torque output, and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
In terms of design, the Ducati Desert Sled and Cafe Racer cater to different audiences. The Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer is a minimalistic motorcycle with riding at its heart. Desert Sled Ducati Scrambler is a dual purpose machine with on-road and off-road riding experience.
Scrambler Cafe Racer will attract younger buyers who prefer a motorcycle that is fast from point A to point B. Design and styling are also important, with multiple customisation options. Overall, the standard Ducati Cafe Racer looks good and has the equipment to match its purpose.
Cafe Racer model receives a single seat, short fairing, new logo, side number plate, and handlebar mirrors. A dedicated colour scheme with black anodised aluminium Termignoni mufflers is provided. Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 tyres are fitted onto 17-inch aluminium gold wheels.
Desert Sled, on the other hand, is a different machine from Ducati. It will be offered in two colour schemes, along with 19 and 17-inch gold spoked wheel combination and Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres. An aluminium handlebar with cross strut will also be provided.
As of now, it is unclear if Ducati would introduce either of the new Scrambler based models in India. We believe, both models could perform extremely well in the Indian market. The Desert Sled and Cafe Racer by Ducati Scrambler will be good additions to their Indian portfolio.
