Volvo has unveiled the all-new XC60 today at the Geneva Motor Show. The new model will be replacing the hugely successful first-generation XC60, which became the best-selling premium compact SUV in Europe.

Hakan Samuelsson, Volvo CEO, said, "We have a strong heritage in designing stylish and dynamic SUVs that offer the latest in technology. The new XC60 will be no exception. It's the perfect car for an active lifestyle, and it represents the next step in our transformation plan."

The manufacturer also claims that the new XC60 is one of the safest cars ever made. It is equipped with the latest technologies such as Steer Assist, Oncoming Lane Mitigation, and Blind Spot Indication System.

Samuelsson added, "We have focused on building a car that can deliver pleasure to all of your senses - from a commanding view of the road ahead in a beautifully appointed and calm cabin, to a safe, inspired and confident ride.

"We've paid particular attention to making life easier for our customers by providing them with the creature comforts and services that take the hassle out of everyday life."

The new XC60 also features Pilot Assist system as an option, which is Volvo's advanced semi-autonomous driver-assistance system. This system can steer, accelerate and brake the XC60 on well-marked roads up to 130 km/h.

Powering the model is a T8 Twin Engine petrol plug-in hybrid that cranks out 401bhp of power and can make a sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. It will get a diesel D4 engine that generates 190bhp of power, while the D5 with PowerPulse technology will deliver 235bhp.

There are two petrol engines; the T5 and the T6, both are coupled with turbo and superchargers. The T5 is capable of producing 250bhp, while the T6 will crank out 315bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. The new XC60 is expected to hit the Indian shores soon.
