2017 Geneva Motor Show: SsangYong XAVL Concept Revealed
“XAVL is a further iteration of the XAV concept we presented at the Frankfurt motor show in 2015.”
At the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, South Korean car manufacturer SsangYong showcased the new XAVL Concept. The new concept SUV is the further developed version of the company's XAV concept, which was unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The XAVL is a mid-size SUV with three rows of seats that are inspired from the second generation classic Korando SUV of the 1990s. The new SUV will lead to a production model which will be positioned above the Korando but below the Rexton in the company's product lineup.
Johng-Sik Choi, SsangYong CEO, said, "I am delighted to unveil this concept which signposts the future generation of SsangYong cars. XAVL is a further iteration of the XAV concept we presented at the Frankfurt motor show in 2015. This longer bodied car will accommodate seven passengers in comfort, and will be powered by both petrol and new clean-burning diesel engines."
Regarding dimension, the XAVL measures 4,630mm in length, 1,866mm in width and 1,640 in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,775mm. The production car will get a 1.6-litre diesel engine and a 1.5-litre petrol engine. Transmission choices will include 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox.
Inside, the XAVL SUV will feature a 10.25-inch full-colour LCD, Advanced Emergency Braking System, Lane Change Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, High Beam Assistance, Blind Spot Detection and a lot more.
The customer can also use a smartphone to control the functions of the vehicle's navigation, HVAC, and infotainment system. Add to that, Link to Home IOT (Internet of Things) technology allows to connect with the user's home and manage CCTV, temperature control, etc.
