2017 Geneva Motor Show: Skoda Octavia vRS 245 Revealed
The vRS 245 will be available in a higher state of tune than its predecessor — the vRS 230 and is the most powerful Octavia till date.
Skoda has revealed the Octavia vRS 245 at the ongoing 2017 Geneva motor show. The Czech auto giant says that they have upgraded the car's engine and which, now produces 15bhp and 20 Nm of more power that its predecessor - vRS 230.
Now, the facelifted vRS 245 is powered by a turbocharged, 2.0-litre engine. The engine is now in a higher state of tune and delivers 242bhp of power and 370 Nm of peak torque. This upgrade will help the car clock a 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7sec.
The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. on the other hand, a new seven-speed dual clutch DSG is offered with this model for the first time. Power is transmitted to the front wheels and the car carries a top speed of around 250 km/h.
The new vRS is 14mm lower than regular Octavia and is also 38mm wider at the rear than the old 230. The chassis settings can be adjusted along with the drivetrain's characteristics via the drive modes, which cycle from normal to performance modes.
The vRS 245 has a long list of features and it starts with - a 9.2in touchscreen infotainment system, wi-fi connectivity, voice control, smartphone charging technology, and the Skoda connect app through which you can lock the windows and door via your phone.
Some of the safety features that the car has are - adaptive cruise control, trailer Assist, emergency braking technology, Blind Spot Detect, Rear Traffic Alert, Crew Protect Assist, which, shuts windows and the sunroof during a crash and tensions driver and passenger seatbelts.
Launch dates of the car have not yet been announced. The vRS 245 will be available in two variants and will carry a price tag of £25,130 (INR 20,43,546) for the saloon variant and £26,330 (INR 21,41,129) for the estate one.
