2017 Geneva Motor Show: Range Rover Velar SUV Unveiled
The new Range Rover Velar was officially unveiled at Geneva. The new SUV takes its place between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport.
The Range Rover Velar was officially revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The mid-size Range Rover is positioned between the Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover Evoque.
The new Velar measures at 4,803mm, making it five centimetres shorter than the Range Rover Sport. However, it's only 5mm taller than the Evoque. The SUV is packed with new technology and a brand new design, it is sure to bring customers from both and from rivals too.
The new Velar blends Evoque with more conventional full-size Range Rover styling details, although it does introduce one or two all-new design characteristics.
Horizontal taillights, similar to the Evoque, are found at the rear, though the Velar's units are slimmer and extend across the width of the tailgate. Additionally, design firsts include the recessed, pop-out door handles, pointing to a much sleeker side profile.
There are various important features which première on the Range Rover Velar. Among the most notable is the new state-of-the-art Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, super-slim matrix-laser LED headlights and Burnished Copper-coloured detailing.
The interiors of the Velar can include a 12.3-inch TFT virtual cockpit display - as seen on Range Rover and Range Rover Sport - but the accompanying centre touchscreen lights up and tilts forwards when the vehicle's engine is fired up.
Range Rover will offer six powertrains from launch including the 178bhp 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel and a powerful 379bhp supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine.
All engines are paired with a ZF 8-speed gearbox. The fastest model can sprint from 0 -100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds with a top speed restricted to 250 km/h.
