2017 Geneva Motor Show: Menacing McLaren 720S Roars Into Life
McLaren 720S has been revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The new McLaren 720S sports a bigger engine than its predecessor, something of a rarity in today's eco-friendly day and age.
2017 Geneva Motor Show: McLaren 720S revealed. The all-new McLaren 720S is a lighter and more powerful car than the one it replaces.

Powering the McLaren 720S is a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 711bhp and 770Nm of torque that transmits to the rear wheels by a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

The McLaren 720S will sprint from 0-100km/h in just 2.9 seconds while 0-200km/h takes just 7.8 seconds and will keep on accelerating till it tops out at a maximum speed of 341km/h.

Helping the McLaren along on its way is the 1283kg kerb weight which means its 18 kilogrammes lighter than the 650S. The weight loss is mainly due to McLaren's new Monocage II carbon fibre chassis tub, pillars and roof structure which make the makes the 720S incredibly stiff.

The stiffness of the Monocage II structure allowed McLaren's designer's to improve the new visibility for the driver by slimming down the A, B and C-pillars.
Helping with the all-around visibility is the steeply raked windscreen and the usage of a whole lot of glass in the construction of the cabin.

The design of the new McLaren is quite unlike what we've seen till now from McLaren with the striking eye-socket headlights which look menacing.

McLaren's signature dihedral doors are present as always and now play a significant part in cooling down the engine thanks to their double skins channelling air into the radiators and now open 155mm closer to the car which should mean that getting it parked in your packed supercar garage.

The rear sits quite low and sports a massive rear wing which also acts as an air brake and has a DRS drag reduction setting for those wanting to go a bit faster down the straight.

The interiors of the new McLaren are a brilliant tech fest, especially the foldable Driver Display that is a big screen when upright but slims down to the bare essentials when the driver wants to get crazy around a track.

Another display controls the infotainment system and pairs up with the Bowers and Wilkins audio system.

Prices for the all-new McLaren 720S start at £208,600 (Rs 1.69 crore), and Mclaren will begin deliveries in May.
