2017 Geneva Motor Show: Insane Honda Civic Type R Revealed — As Crazy As The Concept
The Honda Civic Type-R has been revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with 316bhp and retains the insane design of the concept car.
2017 Geneva Motor Show: Honda Civic Type-R revealed. The production-spec Civic Type-R is as bonkers as the concept car unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

Powering the 2017 Honda Civic Type-R is a revised version of Honda's turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that cranks out 316bhp and 400Nm of torque. Power goes to the front wheels by a new 6-speed manual gearbox, which is the only transmission option available.

The all-new Honda Civic Type-R features three driving modes: ‘Comfort' setting sits alongside the agile ‘Sport' and race-obsessed ‘+R' modes. The three modes tweak the adaptive dampers, steering, gear shift intensity and throttle response.
Also new is a rev-matching function which automatically blips the throttle on downshifts to smooth out the gearshifts.

Honda has also tweaked the front Macpherson strut suspension setup of the standard hatchback to reduce torque steer while maximising sporty handling. The rear suspension uses a multi-link setup.

The Honda Civic Type-R's aggressive design including the revised front bumper and the mental rear wing work to help the Civic Type-R blast its way through the corners.

Production of the Honda Civic Type-R is expected to start this summer in England. The Honda Civic Type-R, when it goes on sale in the United States will be the first Honda branded Type-R ever sold on American soil.
