2017 Geneva Motor Show: Audi Considering An Electric Challenger For The Valkyrie

German automaker Audi is planning to develop a hypercar to take on the Mercedes Project One and Aston Martin Valkyrie. The project was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show by Audi CEO Rupert Stadler.

If Audi considers going ahead with this plan, the hypercar will become a reality towards the end of the decade. The manufacturer has confirmed earlier that it will have three electric production cars by that time. The first being the Audi Q6 e-tron SUV.

Stadler said, "I am looking forward to what's possible in terms of new technology. There are some interesting ideas there, especially if you look to our interest in Formula E and electromobility."

Audi didn't reveal whether the car under development will be a pure electric vehicle or a hybrid one. It seems that Audi will look forward to developing an electric hypercar.

Previously, the manufacturer had an idea to develop a diesel-electric Audi hypercar linked to its Le Mans racer. But the idea was dropped in 2014 by Audi's technical chief at the time.

Talking about the new hypercar in Geneva, Stadler confirmed: "We looked at doing a car using Le Mans technology but stepped back, as it was clear there was more to come in terms of performance in the future."
