2017 Detroit Motor Show: Infiniti QX50 Concept Revealed
The Infiniti QX50 concept SUV has been revealed at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. The concept previews a production SUV that will be powered by a variable compression turbo engine.
The Infiniti QX50 concept SUV has been unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. The concept SUV previews a production ready SUV that will bear the QX50 name and will take on the likes of the Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
Under the bulging bonnet of the QX50 concept sits Infiniti's new variable-compression turbo (VCT) engine which the luxury carmaker states has the efficiency of a diesel with the performance and refinement of a petrol. The 2.0-litre VCT engine produces 268bhp and 390Nm of torque.
Design wise, the QX50 features a big grille up with a big Infiniti badge front and centre which is flanked by angular LED headlamps and daytime running lights. The bumper features a skid plate in the centre with fog lamps on either end.
The rear end of the concept Infiniti SUV features segmented LED taillamps that are connected by a curved strip of chrome while the bumper features large exhaust tips on either end.
Inside, the interiors are minimal and feature a large display instead of the usual instrument cluster behind the steering wheel along with two touchscreen displays on the dashboard. The show car features dot-quilting upholstery but infinit claims that the production car will feature a wide range of interior finishes.
The QX50 also marks the debut of Infiniti's semi-autonomous driving technologies, named ProPILOT which will feature on the company's new models.
