Ssangyong To Debut Tivoli Premium Compact SUV In India At Auto Expo
Ssangyong has confirmed that its Tivoli compact SUV would be making its Indian debut at 2016 Auto Expo. The premium compact SUV will be on display at Mahindra's stand along with several of their very own domestic products.
Previously, we reported that Ssangyong has already commenced road testing of its Tivoli in India. The all-new compact SUV is already on sale in the European market, where it is extensively popular. Ssangyong could be launching the Tivoli in India as well within the calendar year.
Under the hood of Ssangyong's Tivoli is a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine. Mahindra has significantly contributed in the development of this new engine. The Tivoli's engine will be mated to an optional manual or automatic transmission. Internationally the compact SUV is offered with four-wheel or front-wheel drive system.
Tivoli will be the second product to be introduced in India by Ssangyong. Previously, Ssangyong launched the Rexton premium SUV for Indian markets. The Tivoli compact SUV will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Terrano, and Renault Duster models.
The Tivoli is most likely to be introduced in India via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. Pricing will have to be competitive by Ssangyong to see its compact SUV flourish in the segment. Stay tuned for more updates as we get them from the 2016 Auto Expo.
