2016 Auto Expo: Honda BR-V Makes India Debut, Joins Compact SUV Fight
Honda has unveiled the BR-V Compact SUV in India at the 2016 Auto Expo. The BR-V can seat 7 people in its 3 rows of seats.
Engine And Gearbox Specification
Honda is expected to put the 1.5-litre engines from the Mobilio MPV under the bonnet of the BR-V.
- Engine - 1.5-litre Petrol/ 1.5-litre Diesel
- Power - 117 bhp @ 6600 rpm/ 98 bhp @ 3600 rpm
- Torque - 145 Nm @ 4600 rpm / 200 Nm @ 1750 rpm
Styling
With regards to the styling, the BR-V has a rather squarish front which features quite an extreme amount of chrome. The headlamps are rectangular in shape and looks quite sharp and there is a wide air dam right in the middle of the front bumper.
The tailamps are LED units and look quite angular as well. Also featured are faux skid plates on both the front and rear bumpers as well as roof rails and cladding all across the SUV.
The interiors of the BR-V see the new SUV adopt the Honda City's instrument binnacle as well as the centre console and the HVAC controls. The steering wheel is the same one found on the Amaze sedan and the Mobilio MPV and features the same steering mounted controls.
Availability & Rivals
The BR-V is expected to hit Honda showrooms and the public roads later this year and will go up against the newly unveiled Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the Hyundai Creta and the Ford EcoSport.
