India's First Super Car DC Avanti Unveiled

The Indian car scene just got brighter with the arrival of the first Indian super car in the form of DC Avanti. The DC Avanti has been designed and built by DC Design, the famous Indian car design house based in Pune. The DC Avanti was unveiled at the 11th Indian Auto expo by Bololywood superstar Amitabh Bacchan.

DC Design has so far been a design company offering mind blowing modifications to all forms of cars. But it has now enetered the manufacturing segment by building the Avanti from scratch. The car has been developed entirely in India and will be assembled in Pune. Speaking about the Avanti,

Mr Dilip Chapbria said: “My supercar will offer the looks, feel, dimensions, quality and fit and finish comparable to supercars from Lamborghini and Ferrari, minus the horsepower. With this car, we are making the transformation from a design house to a production house."

Such an ambitious super car project can mean the car will cost a bomb. But trust Indians to make the best car with the lowest possible price tag (Remember the Nano). Mr Dilip Chabria has said the DC Avanti will be priced not more than Rs.30 lakhs.

The Avanti will be a supercar in all forms except power. It will be powered by a ford engine that will be tuned to match the needs of a super car. The two litre eco boost engine and its six speed manual gear box will be procured from Ford Europe. The DC Avanti is expected to hit the markets in late 2013 with DC aiming to make 300 models in the first batch of production.

This is one car that you will want to drive at least once but we will have to wait for at least two years.
