Vauxhall/Opel Monza Concept Heads To Frankfurt Auto Show
Opel/Vauxhall Monza is an advanced looking concept vehicle that the European automaker will reveal at the Frankfurt Auto Show next month. You would have already realised the concept looks too futuristic to go into production. Instead, it is only meant to shed light on the company's future design philosophy.
Most concept cars have that one feature which gives them their distinct look, making them stand apart from the crowd. For the Monza it has to be the unique gull wing doors which appear almost like gigantic wings when open.

Most concept cars have that one feature which gives its distinct look, making it stand apart from the crowd. For the Monza it has to be the unique gull wing doors which appear almost like gigantic wings when open.

The two doors constitute almost the entire side of the car. This also means the concept has no b-pillar. The massive gull wings open up to reveal seating for four.

When the doors are pulled down the absence of the b-pillar and the size of the doors gives it a door less appearance, giving it a truly flowing and fluid design.

The concept measuring 4690 mm long and 1310 mm high has been designed by Vauxhall's British Chief of Design, Mark Adams. The vehicle comes with 500 liters of boot space despite its compact body.

The Monza concept comes with a highly efficient range-extender drivetrain. This means the engine, a 1.0 liter SIDI turbo is used only as a generator to charge a battery.

Details about the electric motor, power figures and performance numbers will be revealed upon launch.

The interior of the Monza is a piece of contemporary art. The concept lacks a conventional instrument cluster. Instead, a single piece display stretches from door to door which will serve all purposes.

The display is another piece of unconventional modern technology that functions by the way of LED projection technology. It is the same sort of projection system that is used during large open air shows.

The system uses 18 LED projectors to display information and it is controlled by the driver either through voice commands or steering wheel mounted controls.
