Porsche Confirms 918 Spyder Hybrid Production Unveiling In Frankfurt
The most powerful, not to mention the most advanced Porsche ever, the 918 Spyder hybrid supercar will make its debut in production form at the Frankfurt Auto Show. This was confirmed by Porsche with a Tweet, "The image of the 918 Spyder is the latest pre-production version. The production version will be unveiled at Frankfurt."
The above tweet was actually in response to an earlier tweet (embedded below) in which Porsche erroneously said the production version of the 918 Spyder was out at the Monterey Motor Week.
Nevertheless, we do not have to wait much longer to take our first look at the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1 rival as Frankfurt Auto Show will commence on September 10.
Porsche 918 Spyder is also a hybrid like its Ferrari and McLaren counterparts. However, in terms of outright power the Porsche falls slightly short with 886 HP (608 HP from the 4.6 liter engine and 149 HP and 129 HP from the electric motors).
But when you reach such colossal levels of power what matters more is how that power is delivered onto the road and the Porsche could surprise everyone by outperforming the other two super hybrids.

However, the most impressive part of the 918 Spyder will be its efficiency, an area in which it trumps the other two. The hybrid car can deliver supercar performance while releasing a mere 70g/km of CO2.
Come September 10, we'll get you all the exciting details about the newest member of the super hybrid club. You can view the full Porsche 918 Spyder image gallery here.
