At the Los Angeles Auto Show Mercedes has upped the ante by showcasing the Concept GLA45 AMG. Add the craziness of the A45 AMG to the GLA crossover and what you have is an extremely appealing machine. And don't really be bothered by the ‘concept' in the name. The car is as production ready as it can get. Here are the details.

The raised and rugged look of the GLA-Class has been further highlighted in the GLA45 AMG. There are plenty of aerodynamic additions to the body, along with exciting livery to make the car look more "muscular", with a commanding road presence.

Merc GLA45 AMG comes with AMG forged wheels in a cross spoke design, with AMG wheel hub covers with center lock-look.

Stopping power comes from high performance AMG brakes with red calipers. In fact, the car sports a white colour, with black and red accents throughout.

Other exterior design aspects leading to its rugged look are, a large front splitter in high-gloss black, air deflectors on the front bumper, large cooling air intakes.

The sides of the GLA45 AMG wears large "45" livery and distinctive AMG logo at the upper edge of the windscreen.

Other AMG exterior design elements include "twin-blade" radiator grille in silver chrome, side sill panels with high-gloss black inserts, a "TURBO AMG" badge on the front wings, high-gloss black roof rails, rear diffuser and the large rear spoiler.

One last thing that needs a mention are the high-gloss black tailpipe trims of the AMG sports exhaust system which features and an electronically controlled variable vane system to modulate the AMG signature exhaust note.

Mercedes GLA45 AMG continues to be powered by the "most muscular" four cylinder series production engine that also powers the A45 AMG. The 2.0 liter AMG turbo engine delivers 355 HP and 450 Nm of torque.

Power is transferred by AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission to all four wheels via AMG Performance 4MATIC system. The GLA45 AMG can accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 5 seconds.

Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH: "With the Concept GLA45 AMG, we are setting a stake firmly in the ground of the strongly growing market segment of compact SUVs."
Moers adds, "Our customers - a young target group who set great store by styling, dynamism and independence - can now start looking forward to a dynamic high-performance car. The most powerful four-cylinder engine in the world and the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system add up to make the Concept GLA45 AMG a unique proposition."
