KTM Super Duke 1290 R Burns Rubber At Goodwood
Since its first public appearance at the 2012 EICMA in Milan the KTM Super Duke 1290 R has been spotted in the wild a few times and has also been photographed alongside a Patriot Edition during a U.S dealer visit.
However, the Beast, as KTM likes to call it, was never seen in action in public. Apart from the promotional video KTM released in which the Beast was shown ‘escaping a secure facility in a cloud of powerslide tyres and effortless wheelies.' The Super Duke 1290 R was shown around burning rubber for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Here are some images from the event.

At Goodwood
The one riding the KTM Super Duke 1290 R during Goodwood was former MotoGP rider Jeremy McWilliams.

Engine
The Super Duke 1290 R's engine is based on liquid cooled V-twin unit used by the RC8 R Superbike. Engine specifications have still been kept under wraps by KTM though.

In its den
We can however say with a certain degree of certainty that the engine is capable of delivering about 200HP.

Pleasing the crowd
The bike features a Trellis frame made of chrome molybdenum steel, WP sports suspensions, tyres and brakes. But once again the particulars have not been made public.

Prep time
KTM is expected to reveal the production version of the bike late this year.

Jeremy on the 'Beast'
"It's always an honour to ride at Goodwood, but to be honest this will be the most insane bike I've ever ridden and yes - more than a certain MotoGP bike. Hopefully I can keep ‘The Beast' on a leash and put on a good show for the fans at Goodwood. It is going to be memorable!," Jeremy said.
