Icona Vulcano Leaves Shanghai Auto Show Stunned
From a hitherto unknown company named Icona comes a stunningly beautiful exotic car, Vulcano. Icona Vulcano is one of the best car that has made its world debut at the ongoing 2013 Shanghai Auto Show.
Icona is a European auto design firm based in Shanghai, China. While the company might be new to the industry, the Vulcano development team consists of several well known names from the international automobile world. Enjoy images and a video of the Icano Vulcano in the gallery as we tell you more about the car.

Vulcano's design is certainly inspired. A hint of Ferrari 599 GTO here and a bit of Ferrari F12 Berlinetta there. But overall the car manages to hold its own in a spectacular way.

Icona, like we said, is a European auto design firm, based in China. The build itself is the work of an Italian coachbuilder, Cecomp, which is a founding member of Icona.

Speaking about the Volcano's celebrated development team, the design team was led by a French designer Samuel Chuffart, whose job portfolio includes names like Nissan and Jaguar-Land Rover.

Icona Vulcano's powertrains were developed and designed under the Claudio Lombardi. Claudio's illustrated carrier includes a stint as Lancia Rally Division's racing director, powertrain technical director of Ferrari Formula 1 and GT teams and project leader of Aprilia.

Lets talk a bit about the car. Two powertrains, a V6 and a V12, have been developed for the Icona Vulcano, both of which are hybrids.

The V12 will power the Vulcano H-Turismo. The engine is a 6.0 liter unit rated at 790 HP, which will team up with a 160 HP electric motor to deliver a total output of 950 HP. A six speed gearbox will drive the rear wheels and propell the car from 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds flat. Top speed is claimed to be 350 km/h.

The Vulcano H-Competizione will get the V6. This 3.8 liter , twin turbocharged unit, rated at 550 HP will also have an electric motor for company, bringing the total power to 870 HP. This model will be an all wheel drive though. This enables it reach 100km/h slightly faster, in 2.9 seconds. Top speed remains the same at 350 km/h.

Icona has not made it clear whether Vulcano will be a one off or a limited edition model.

That's enough facts and figures. Enjoy the rest of the gallery and the video at the end.
