Carmakers Unhappy With Poor Management At Expo
The carmakers have said they had to face several issues at the expo and were not exactly happy with how the event was shaping up. All the model launches were crowded with too many people hounding the representatives of carmakers for media kits that were brought in to be given to media men covering the event. The question o cleanliness of the venue has also cropped and an unnamed exhibitor has said the Auto Expo has not lived up to other international auto shows.
Pragati Maidan, the venue of the Auto Expo is a huge exhibition area with 18 halls and 11 gates. Most of the events were scheduled in such a way that media could move from one event to other only bey leaving a few minutes early or reaching the next event late. The Drivespark team also could not make to couple of press conferences due to the packed schedule. This not only caused problems to the media but several auto makers were not able to reach out to all media men.
Another notable anomaly at the Auto expo was that of the scheduled media days also being days for special invitees. The number of special invitees was so high that media person were not able to cover the event effectively. Crowd management was close to being non existent.
Carmakers have also complained about lack of proper infrastructure at the venue. Reports say the next Indian Auto Expo will be relocated from Pragati Maidan to Noida, in the outskirts of Delhi.
